CMA Staff

Our Instructors & Staff Members

Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.

Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.

Michael J Scott  (Master Instructor)

Mr Scott starting his early training in boxing but in his teenage years tried a number of martial arts before discovering Hapkido, which was known as a mixed martial art (MMA) due to the extensive variety offered by the style. Mr Scott is still training and teaching Hapkido 32 years later. In 1996 Mr Scott started training in Will Machado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and continues to do so today.

One of Mr Scott’s passions his helping his students become the best that they can be. This is achieved not only through martial arts training but also through his coaching and mentoring program, which has taken many students from shy to confident. The program is well regarded in the community and has helped many students attend their high school of choice. Adults and kids alike can learn to become more goal orientated, better communicators and self confident. read more...

Stephen Fellenberg  (Senior Instructor)

Stephen is a 4th degree Hapkido Black Belt, a Blue Belt in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and still actively trains and instructs in both disciplines.

Steve has been practicing Martial Arts for over 43 years – starting his training in 1972 at just 10 years old. He first tried Judo, training with his mates, doing jumps, flips & throws on old mattresses until they found an actual Judo class, where he progressed as far as Yellow Belt.

In high school he trained in gymnastics, which helped him gain flexibility, strength, and discipline. In 3rd form he won a scholarship to a years free training in Tae Kwon Do, where he feels his Martial Arts training really began. The following years entailed training in Tae Kwon Do, Ken Sei Kan Karate Do and even Hapkido in Parramatta for a while, but it was in March 1994 that he first started training with Mr Michael Scott.

To Master Scott's credit, Stephen achieved his 1st degree Black Belt in 1999, after many 2 hour classes, training 3, 4 and even 5 days a week. At Black Belt he feels his training started all over again - reviewing all the colour belts techniques so he could apply them "as a Black Belt" and delving deeper into the techniques to understand the very fundamentals of each one.

Stephen says he feels privileged to be able to train in Martial Arts, and especially with Master Scott; it has kept him focused, fit, disciplined and has challenged him to push through when it mattered most. Stephen offers these words of advice: "Don’t give up your Martial Arts as life does have its challenges. Personally my greatest challenge at present is the mental side of my ability to stay on track with my training to become the best that I can be in my own techniques and especially in teaching others.”
